Abstract

Picture this. It is December 2019. I ran into my faculty advisor, and anxiously ask if my senior project proposal had been approved by the department. He absentmindedly affirmed that I will be able to direct a children’s musical as proposed. This casual confirmation from my advisor sent me into a tailspin of joy. I quickly decided to direct A Year With Frog and Toad, a musical adapted from the beloved children’s book series. I imagined the dancing birds, adorable puppets, and jump roping monsters that I had to look forward to when directing this little drop of sunshine. I pictured being together with many of my best friends every night for rehearsal. A good final hurrah with my theatre family before graduation and heading out into the real world.
