Abstract

Ceramics is the most familiar medium to me and holds my interest. I desire a deeper understanding of its formation as a field of art making. The process of making vessels and the experience of using them intrigues me. I thought that the best way to learn of the topic in totality would be to come to an understanding of the purest of vessels ... the liturgical vessel. I thought that knowing the historical development of form for these vessels in addition to their weight of sacred meaning would tell me all I needed to know about the sacredness of any vessel.
