Abstract
Carboxylate self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) of various chain lengths, COOH(CH2)nCH3 (n=9, 11, 15), were characterized on a polished zinc selenide (ZnSe) substrate using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). From the XPS atomic percentages of zinc and carbon, the film thickness of each monolayer was estimated to be 16.29 Å, 19.55 Å, and 26.07Å.
