Abstract
The use of a silicon microstrip detector (SSD) interleaved with segments of beryllium oxide, in a photoproduction experiment was discussed. The detectors consists of four 25 μm pitch, 300 μm thick planes of silicon strips and the electronics necessary to amplify, digitize and store information. It matches the hit information in SSDs with the tracking information from the downstream SSD planes. It improves the lifetime and vertex resolution and enhances the reconstruction efficiency of short-lived charm particles.
