Abstract

A review of the status and distribution of Merope tuber within Pennsylvania indicates that the species is more common than previously believed. Two published records exist for the species in Pennsylvania - one from Philadelphia County and the second from Lancaster County. This paper reports twenty new locality records and extends the known distribution of M. tuber into western Pennsylvania. The use of black lights and flight intercept traps in wooded areas near fresh water sources were found to be productive collecting techniques.
