The crackly sound of his voice filters through the room like the slow, afternoon sunlight. She shifts on her bed, blushing from the heat of her broken AC, eyes closed in a sweet, lazy doze. A light summer blanket lays tangled between her legs, her baggy t-shirt lifted to expose her belly to the summer glow.
